It has been an interesting year for Adidas with the non-stop success of heat releases that are attracting people from all over the place and it seems like they have no intention of letting up on the amazing production. A series of collaborations were announced in the early months of this year in the Consortium Tour and we have seen a few so far, including Ronnie Fieg’s tubular Doom. And now, they’re throwing us another curveball in collaboration with the famous Italian Store Sneakers76, that starts to celebrate its 10th anniversary with this special release in collaboration with the German brand.   The chosen silhouette by the store is the all-time classic EQT Guidance 93. Now, this sneaker has been used before for other collaborations but never before with these colors or beautiful story behind it. And for the story this time, we go back, way back in time to ancient Greece, and learn a little bit about the mythology to fully understand what this sneaker represents. Taranto, home to the store, is perched above sea level and for this sneaker, colors and Greek mythology come together beautifully. The aquatic green in beautiful perforated leather represents the “Small Sea” as locals refer to the port, the mid section is a representation of the swing bridge "Ponte Girevole", which crosses the harbor. The mix of two colors also has an explanation: the light grey is the representation of the modern structure, whereas the brown a nod towards the old wooden structure, now gone.   The historically charged shoe is topped off with a stunning heel, one logo in silver and the other in gold, over a darker seafoam green that represents the "Big Sea". So much influence from the neighboring waters is no surprise, myth has it that Taras, son of Poseidon shipwrecked off the coast, and, upon being rescued by dolphins, found the city. The city of Taranto has never seen such a complete and beautiful representation of its history and resources. The Adidas Consortium X Sneakers76 EQT Guidance 93 "The Bridge Of Two Seas" exclusive release is set at Sneakers76 on Saturday, September 17th, in store and online, and will be packaged in a box styled on a volume of a bound encyclopedia, while the global launch at Consortium accouts will follow on Saturday, September 24th.
